Capt. Carlos, Thanks for the pictures it helped when trying to explain to the family how big that cow was.
Your the best dude, thanks again for a most excellent day with you and your crew. All of us truly appreciate you.
Till next time!
~ Tom S.
My boys and I had the good fortune to fish with Captain Fred and his mate Joe today.
Words can not express what a first class operation he runs! I had told Fred I wanted to give my boys an
opportunity to catch a 'big one' and he did not disappoint!
I can not recommend him enough to anyone who is considering doing a charter.
Thank you again Fred, we had a blast.
~ Jack K.
Capt. Fred, Thanks for a great day Thursday. The weather couldn't have been better. I never expected a 50
degree wind free day in December! Catching stripers two at a time with the whole gang of us hooking
up at the same time was a hoot. There's more to catching a blackfish than meets the eye and they
are as tasty as you said. We had some last night, and I believe we bumped them up
to the favorite seafood on the list. Plus you can't beat the freshness! We learned a great deal,
you were a great captain, the boat was ideal, and I enjoyed the chat with Dave, not to forget
that you put us on a mess of fish. Thanks!
~ Joe B.
Capt. Carlos, our whole group seriously appreciate all you did for us Sunday. You put your heart
into it and your experience is evident. It was a pleasure to fish with you and hope to do so
again soon. Can't wait to "live line" bunker in the spring. Thanks again!
~ Tom S.
We had a great day today man!! Thanks for the excitement and feeding
frenzy. Those blue sharks were killer. Definitely the best trip I've
been on. Can't wait to book another charter.
~ John K.
On behalf of everyone that went out Sunday I just wanted to thank you again for the great trip the guys and myself had Sunday with Capt. Joe.
Grabbing Fluke keepers on the first lines dropped was a great way to start the day and the action didn’t stop until we headed back to the dock...
The blue casting and bird chasing was lots of fun too, first timers were shown the ropes by Capt Joe who was very patient. Speaking of Capt. Joe,
what a stand up guy and great knowledge of the Jersey sea. The music was great, the sea was cooperative and the weather was beautiful. What more
can a bunch of city slickers ask for!!! Can't wait until everyone finishes eating their catch so we can book another trip before the season ends.
Thanks again,
~ Jared K.

Had UCONN starting left guard Alex Lamadeline onboard today. Working around his workout schedule and seeing his family for his short stay before Spring Ball we took a late morning trip out. Hard getting the bunker in GK we made bait and took some short drifts and Alex popped a nice keeper, after that it was down hill went through 40 blues to get this keeper. Good Luck this year in the Big East Alex.
Got out for a couple of hours with family members Gustavo and Pepe and friends Mat and Mike. Had to be back in time to fire of the grill for lunch for wife's day. Went to GK to load up on bait and my first 2 drops were loaded with bluefish. Last and final drop had Bass and we caught them until we ran out of bait. Luckily we did would have wound up running late for lunch and would have been in the doghouse.
Got out early and got the bait before it got to crowded.. the crew i had out today was a great group of guys and had entered the nj hunters/fishermen tourney... started out on the chunk and put two bass in the boat right away ..picked through the blues and missed a good amount of bass... bite slowed so moved east first drift 2 more and couldnt put anymore in the boat for the rest of the day.. def missed another few bass hooked up and then just lettin go an coming back scaled.. also had prob around a 30 break an 8/0 gami 15 feet from the boat ..bummer... ended with the four bass and missed winning the tourney by 4 oz ... ahh oh well next time.
I had Sam Melendez and a bunch of his friends from Pa out for the day. We had constant action with the bluefish with the guys taking home around 30 or 40 fish home and releasing another huge load. We had a few bass runoffs and marked alot of fish on the bottom today but the bunker had no chance with all the bluefish around. Anyway, the guys had a blast and all were complaining about sore arms so it turned out ok.
Had Chris back with twin brother Brian, Dad Bob, with Steve and John. Good news Striper bite is getting better, not so good news were that we only landed 3 to 18lbs. Fish were hard to hook lightly hitting the baits, still had great readings but not turned on yet. Also the pesky blues didn't make it easy, had over 50 of the rats up to 10lbs.
Had Frank with Kevin, Sasha, and Newbie to fishing Ken. Went to GK to make bait no problem, had blues to deal with, then outgoing tide vs southeast wind at 15+ knots, decided to drift until I got good marks, read lots of marks but only set up once we had Bass on. No luck until uncle Kevin decided to give props "Deadliest catch style", and bite the head off a bunker, a few minutes later he landed the only keeper Striper of the trip. As for the past few trips on the Toy, over 60 blues to 12lbs, but only one keeper.
Had the Isola family out today with son William, Dad Jim, and Uncle Ed. Made the run to Great Kills to load up the livewell in one throw. Set up on some great Striper marks, but blues wouldn't have any of that. Landed over 50 fish before they guys cried uncle, as did I, the blues this year are thicker than ever, but nonetheless plenty of action on a calm bay.
Today I had Bill Youngblood and family from Bernards Twsp. out for a shot at some stripers. Went across and got our fill of bunker pretty quick. Marked a bunch of fish when I was heading over so I came back and they were still there. All blues! They were definately bass in a wide area that we fished . Had a bunch of good runoffs with the baits coming back clean and the bass readings on the bottom were pretty thick but the amount of bluefish around right now is incredible with 3 to 5 hookups at the same time being the norm! Shot out towards Romer and clammed for an hour without a sniff so we came back in and tried using just clams but the blues gobbled those up just as quick. Total tally for the trip: 50+blues and 1 short striper. Everyone had a great time and the kids had a ball pulling on those big racers.
Had Rick out with buddies Gonzo,Ted,Rob, and Booker. Had half a dozen bluefish to 10lbs, and a couple of Bass runoffs that we couldn't convert. Had a good time with a bunch of great guys.

After 2 years of preparation, scheduling and luck we were able to finally put together a Tile fish inshore bottom fishing TV show together. Captains Andy LoCascio and Rich Tenreiro joined me today with their camera team, and I was assisted by Capt Joe D, and Jim Mulvey. Started our run out to the Hudson in less than stellar conditions, once we arrived and dropped lines we had fish on right away. Unfortunately the winds were to high to shoot the show, so everyone started fishing until the winds laid down. It was drop and reel fishing with everyone in the crew including Capt LoCascio catching their first tilefish. One the winds laid down the show started, the fish kept biting and at one point in the show all three of us had a tripleheader on. Once we shot enough for the show and tallied our fish we decided to make a run home with a brief stop to top out the coolers with some Cod and Ling. Once we arrived to the wreck it was drop and reel fishing. Total tally for the trip was close to 40 tilefish to 15lbs, 2 dozen Ling to 5lbs, and Cod to 10lbs. want to thanks Capt Andy, and Rich, his camera team, Capt Joe D. and Jim Mulvey for making this shoot happen. More pics to follow, camera went on haywire.
Had Mark Jankowski, Dave, My dad and his buddy Olge today. Ran back down south and hit a wreck in 50ft of water over 20 shorts with only a few keepers. Hit another piece a bit deeper and had drop and reel fishing, limited the boat and crews limit in an hour with fish to 5lbs. Left them biting, best bite of the year. Will continue to run down south until the bite stops. Carlos has some spots for this weekend's open trip.
Today I had Steve, his dad and brother, and a few of his buddies for some togging. A few of them work on a party boat out of morgan. I decided to head south and hit some wrecks off Barnegat in 60-80 feet of water. First wreck had a ton of life on it and we did pretty good there . They weren't chewing real hard so you really had to work at it. I had one newbie to blackfishing on the boat today and he did alot of cussing on his missed bites. We hit 3 other wrecks during the day and caught fish on every spot. I had a pretty good south swell on the way down and I think that might of affected the bite today. All in all, we boated 20 keepers up to 7 pounds and threw back countless shorts. Everyone had a great time on a nice day out.
I invited a few of my buddies for some tog action. I never get to fish much plus never with LAB and also Boston Pete who is my neighbor when I'm in keyport. Alex (MVP) is a good friend of mine whom I've known for a very long time. Bite was real tough today. Wanted to fish the deeper water (100-120ft) but I had a fuel problem with one of the engines so we had to scratch that idea. At 15 mph, the sea girt reef was our only choice. I had a great time regardless of the fishing. Alot of good laughs with awesome company.
Had a trip today with Joe, Harry and his buddies from the Passaic Boat club. Hit a number of pieces in around Elberon and the reef but fishing was a bit slow. Had close to a dozen up to 7 lbs. Wish the fishing would have been better under the beautiful conditions.
Had Carlos Rivera and some of his fellow fire-fighters from the Newark,
NJ Park Ave Firehouse, had Emil, Kyle and Andres on board. Started out Tog dishing, Carlos had a nice keeper but that was the last one for the day. Tried Trolling for Stripers, no birds to work with so we blind-trolled only to lose a nice one near the boat. Great bunch of guys to have out.
The blackfish were not on the chew yesterday. There was no current whatsoever which never bodes well for the togs. We tried everything from 40 to 65 feet and it was all the same. Very picky at best. Bill was high hook with his limit plus and there were a few guys with 3 or 4. If you were real sharp on the rod, you did ok. We ended up with 20 keepers and alot of short ones went back today. Anyway, back at it again this weekend.
Had Brad on board today with his Dad Pete, and employees from his company Mark, Ronnie, and John. Started the run north, saw small pods of birds, but they were all Bluefin chasing bait, didn't want to spend time chasing the elusive Tuna, went on the troll at the rocks and had constant hook-ups of double and tripleheaders of short Stripers and bluefish, started jigging and landed a couple of keeper Stripers, more shorts, lots of blues and too many dogfish. Went back on the troll and landed more keepers, shorts and blues. Total tally was 5 keepers to 33 inches, 30 short bass, over 40 Blues from 3-10 lbs.
Today I had a really good bunch of people on the boat. They were alot of fun all day. We caught a pretty good amount of fish today. Heather caught her first fish ever! The charter did great for never holding a rod before! A lot of short bass with one keeper going in the box plus a load of big blues. A bit crowded at times but a great day overall.
On the marathon trip today I had a few of my favorite regulars and some new faces from Pa. The guys wanted tog first so after passing up on swirling bass everywhere we dropped the hook on a rockpile in 55 feet. Action was slow there so we made a few moves picking away at a few fish at each spot. We then went to a ledge in 52 feet and got into a steady pick of blacks up to 5 pounds. Our total for the day was 30 keepers up to 5 lbs. and a bunch of throwbacks. Two hours of bass jigging resulted in one keeper at 30 inches and nonstop action with shorts.
Today I had a few of our regulars out on a split charter for this years' first blackfish trip. Went to the reef and hit a spot that produced big time last year around the same time. I spent 3 hours there thinking they would turn on. It never happened. I then made a 3 mile move to a rockpile in 56 feet and we had a decent bite for about 2 hours straight. We caught 25 keepers there up to 5 pounds with around 30 shorts going back. When the bite shut off my guys wanted some bass so off we went to the south. Bass fishing was real good on the jigs. We had around 20 shorts and 4 keepers plus a load of bluefish in 2 hours of jigging.
Had Brandon with brother Nick and buddies Sascha and Frank. Started jigging Blues and short Stripers off of Deal, went further north to the rocks and were greeted with stiff 3-4 ft's and tons of Stripers rolling on the surface, we surface plugged and jigged over 2 dozen stripers to 30 inches. Headed back south to try some togging after 15 minutes of no action and birds diving all around us the charter wanted to get back to light tackle fishing. Went back on the drift and had double and triple headers of Bass and Blues until we left. They were feasting on peanut bunkers, crock spoons and surface plugs did the trick. Total tally was 40 Stripers with 6 keepers to 30 inches and over 40 blues.
Had first time saltwater fisherman Jim from D.C. with cousin Mike, son in law Mike, and buddies Bret, Kathy and her dog Willie, a first on Andreas Toy. Started jigging outside the inlet for short bass and tons of blues, went on the troll to find a keeper and got one to 30 inches, had lots of short bass and lots of blues. Charter wanted to do some bottomfishing and went seabassing, fishing was slow only getting half a dozen, so we resumed the troll only to find more short bass and blues. Total tally was 20 bass with only one keeper, half a dozen seabass and about 40 blues from 3-8lbs.
Had Frank and Sean back again this year, there normal routine is to troll, but told them there was a jig bite going on. Started jigging outside the inlet in 65 ft depths for tons of blues and short stripers, but only one keeper that just made 28 inches. So we went on the troll and limited out on shad rigs in short order, spent the rest of the day jigging doubleheader short bass and jumbo blues for the rest of the day. Total tally 2 dozen stripers, and 3 dozen blues.
Had Steve with son Chris and buddies Scott and Al. Started jigging under the birds in 45-55 feet right outside Shark Inlet from first drop till we left. Landed over 20 Stripers to 36 inches and 20 blues to 8lbs. Fish were gorging on sandeels, so we used AVA 27's and 47's to obtain our Striper limit, then went into release mode after that. Also had Stripers rolling on the surface and caught some with noisy chuggers in every color, water temp was 57 degrees.
Had Jeff Sorge with his crew of Ramon,Aaron and Jorge. Ran north from intel from Capt Jay, Gene and Rich, there was bird play off of Long Branch, got there towards the end of the bite. Jigged and trolled for half an hour with no bites. Ran inshore and found some working birds, trolled through them and had multiple fish on the rigs. Saw the marks on the screen and went to jig mode, jigged close to 20 Blues from 3-5 lbs and half a dozen bass to 29 inches.
